Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, our country is under a nation-wide lockdown which has resulted in multitude of issues being faced by the common man. This is the story of one of our beneficiaries, Sarita who lives with her family in Kirari Village. Sarita is 25 years old, a mother of 1 and is currently 7 months pregnant. Her husband’s name is Jai Krishna, who is 28 years old. Her son is 3.5 years old. They belonged to Uttar Pradesh. Before the lockdown, Jai Krishna used to sell pickles on cart but as a consequence of the lockdown imposed by the Government, he was unable to continue selling pickles. Because of this, family got devastated and found themselves helpless as they did not have much savings. According to the Sarita, their ration got finished that she stocked up before the lockdown. She also added that they had nothing to eat for about 3 days, which is extremely harmful for a pregnant female and her baby as well. Hearing her condition, supervisor of our team, Ms. Babita and our team members decided to help her out.Babita contacted ASHA worker of the area, Mrs. Sushila, who was also very concerned about her. When the ASHA worker was contacted, she requested our team to help Sarita in her tough times.
Mr. Shiv Narayan Mahato, Pradhan of the area and also a volunteer of MAMTA HIMC’s COVID-19 Campaign was informed about the family. As soon as he was informed about the family, he provided groceries and other essential food items, such as wheat flour, rice, cooking oil, lentils and pulses to the family. The family was very happy and they thanked Mr. Shiv Narayan Mahato and our team.
