Story of Mujbina

In response to the pandemic Covid-19, our government took challenging measures like nation-wide lockdown to save the lives of the citizens and to prepare our health system to deal with the pandemic. The home arrest has severely affected the lives of daily wagers as they do not have much savings.

This is the story of Mujbina, who lives in Prem Nagar 1st of Kirari Suleman Nagar, a North-West district of New Delhi. Her husband is a daily wage worker and they have 3 children, 2 girls and 1 boy. Their 1st daughter is 12 years old, 2nd daughter is 10 years old and her son is 7 years old. The family originally belonged to Bihar. The factory in which Noor Aalam used to work got closed because of the lockdown, because of which he is now facing financial difficulties and is not able to fulfill his family’s needs. The little amount of money that Mujbina and her husband had saved got finished as time passed and as of now, they do not have money to buy food for themselves. The family wanted to go to their native village in Bihar, but they could not go because of the lockdown and non-availability of transport.

As they came in contact with one of our ORWs, Mujbina told her that no one is distributing ration or cooked food in their area and they do not have a ration card and an Aadhaar card. Our ORWs contacted Mr. Babban, who is Pradhan of Prem Nagar 1st. He facilitated the provision of dry ration and ensured the family that he will help the family. Later, when our ORW contacted Mujbina to check whether she had received the food material, She told the team that she is very thankful to the MAMTA team for helping her family at the time of need.
